Janurary 2018 our Community lost a kind, caring ,compassionate man. Tom had a passion supporting the recovery community and admired observing the change to those who found their way to wellness and become contributors to the community they reside in great ways.
Tom's nickname was "The God Father" to his immediate family. He was there for so many outside the family in his special way. It's for this reason the family created John Thomas Brennan Foundation to help fund "The Fox" Extended Care Program , as he personally advocated this resource was desperately needed as a resource for the young adult recovering community.

At "The Fox Extended Care", our vision is to see individuals, families, and communities be freed from the grasp of substance abuse and co-occurring mental illness. Our goal is to continue to be a leading provider of Extended Care not just in The Northwest Suburbs , but across the country. Our purpose is to restore residents who are recovering from dependence on drugs and alcohol to stable, healthier, and happier lives.
Furthermore, we seek to provide residents with the opportunity to improve their self-esteem, family relations, and interpersonal relationships.
We will continue to build a reputation in our community and increase the number of success stories among past, present, and future residents thru the power of Alumni.
We continue to provide a supportive, loving, residential community where recovery and change can flourish. By providing extended care and using the best available interventions, such as individual therapy, groups, family therapy, and other interventions, we allow those who come to us for care to experience true freedom and build a foundation for lifelong sobriety.
We believe in having our talk match our walk, so all of our counselors have personal experience with recovery. Not only does this experience make them more empathic, more real, and more authentic, but our counselors will not ask anything of anyone that they themselves are not willing to do, or that they have not done, on their own. In addition, we achieve success in helping individuals overcome substance abuse and co-occurring mental illness through consistency and continuity of care.
Our philosophy guides the interventions that we use and the way we have constructed our Extended Care Program. It is based on a number of different principles:
Extended Care Planning begins with our experienced and highly trained clinical team. These individuals, all of whom are themselves in recovery, have not only extensive professional training, but also extensive personal experience with substance abuse and recovery.
Our staff includes registered and certified drug and alcohol counselors, registered contracted physicians, and doctoral-level practitioners. All of these individuals are committed to helping residents conquer substance abuse and recover their lives.
Just as no two people are the same, no two treatment plans are exactly alike. Each resident’s treatment plan is developed as a collaborative effort between the resident and his or her treatment team. Each person’s treatment plan is founded upon his or her strengths, needs, and goals for treatment.
Because substance abuse is a chronic disease, individuals will need to manage it for the rest of their lives. While we believe in the value of residential care, for many people it is only one step, albeit a big step, on a lifelong journey of recovery and sobriety. Through our aftercare program and continuing care options, we are committed to helping our residents and alumni have the support they need to achieve long-term recovery.
If you or someone you love might benefit from "The Fox Extended Care Program "as described in our Vision, Mission, and Program Philosophy, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Members of our admissions team are happy to answer any questions you or your loved one may have. Do not wait to take the first step towards conquering addiction and recovering your life.
At this level of care , we know that recovery occurs as a process, not an instant. We commit ourselves to support our clients’ ongoing recovery work, even after successful completion of our program. Through immersion in community 12-step programs, support of family systems, and professional placement in secondary care, each patient receives the tools they’ll need to walk in recovery. Carefully customized after-care planning provides local referrals for continual care, based on an individual’s personal progress and emergent needs during treatment. As part of our commitment to continual recovery, our alumni are welcomed back at "The Fox" for daytime sessions to underscore their recovery process, even after graduation.
